Carbon question...

548 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  TheNamelessPoet
Normal I do not run carbon in my tanks...

BUT I am starting a heavily planted shrimp tank with neo's (prob pumpkin).
CO2/ fertz the whole works.

If I was not going with fertz I would say yes prob to the carbon right? help out the little shrimpies... But the carbon will suck up my fertz correct?

Should i leave the carbon out and use just filter floss? Its a hob with a prefilter sponge.

You don't need carbon for shrimp tanks unless to get rid of medication dosing. To purify the water further you can consider using purigen which is said to leave ferts alone.
