have a fx5, but on a 75g. all biomax media. haven't lost a fish since the tanks been up with it. water always looks/smells good.I just looked at the picture of that sunsun. It exactly like my JBJ reaction ....but I dont know how much I question the quality... Will read reviews...
In the mean time if anyone has long time experience wth fluval fx5 please share
+1. EheimFor my money, I'd get a couple of Eheim's,.
Hi Jaggedfury,I have an FX5 been running for 3.5 years. Probably did at most 8 water changes throughout the entire time. Always kept water clear, tons of water current and flow even when pack with media. Waterchanges are a easy as heck because of how the FX5 is built. It's smart technology system and priming is awesome. Worth the every bit of the price paid. I paid $280 back in those years.
Just replace the hose with regular clear tubing. I do this with my Fluvals when I hook accesories to them. The only part of the original tubing I keep is the u bend at the top because I like the way it fits on my tanks. you can always get adapters and hose barbs if you're having trouble with fit. I've hooked PVC reactors to Fluval 105, 205, and 405 filters. If its anything like the Fluval 205 tubing, you can't connect an inline heater to it. I would go the eheim if you plan to get inline heaters.
BUt you could buy another SunSUn for the price of a EHeim impeller..... So at this point you could have bought 4 sunsuns...For my money, I'd get a couple of Eheim's, but they are very expensive compared to the others. The plus side is they have parts availability through many online sources, including Eheim.
This makes a big difference when you break some minor part, and have to toss the entire filter because you can get that one little piece you need to fix it.
