Canister Filter Media and order of Media

Those are all bio-media, including the ceramic rings. In my cannister I have 3 baskets. The first basket that the water goes through, has a sponge, the second had filter floss, and the third has ceramic rings. I was always taught to use the bio-media last to keep the sludge out of it.

It would be extremely helpful to know the brand/model filter to give the best advice. or check the User Manual that came with the filter.

I too use a 3 basket system. However, I go from coarsest to finest filtration. Heres how mine is set up:

First basket water encounters: Seachem Matrix, Filter floss->
Second basket: coarse sponge, 2xfilter floss->
Third: Seachem Purigen, filter floss.
