I pronounce it "HC". I would hurt myself trying to say the latin name. My wife can't pronounce it either and she's from Latin America. :hihi:

It would be a great idea if someone who knew how to pronounce these plant names would put together a program that when you click on the plant name you get an audio of someone saying it correctly. Kind of like when you go to an online dictionary, you can click on the word for an audio pronunciation. Then you could incorporate that with TPT's plant profile information and now people know how to pronounce the plant names.

As far as the thread question is concerned: it is pronounced "aych see"
But isn't there a "d" in "callitrichoides"?

Even for a dead language, there are so many different scholars with varying views on Latin pronunciations.

Hem as in AHEM
Me as in me, myself.
An is obvious.
Thus as in "thus" but with a softer "th".
Cal like calcium.
Lih like California
Trick like trick-or-treat
Oid like spheroid or mongoloid (lol)
Eez like easy.

It's a mouthful.
