ok: the tank
125g
lighting 3x 54watts no 65k flour (overdriven with icecap 660-009 ballast) 1x110w 420nm actinic
pressurized co2 5.5 bpm
assume I am starting with below testable levels on all parameters that I am dosing (because I am)

day 1:
waterchange
1 1/4 tsp kno3
1/2 tsp k2so4
1/4 tsp kh2po4
1/4 tsp plantex csm+b
day 3:
3/4 tsp kno3
1/4 tsp k2so4
1/8 tsp kh2po4
1/8 tsp plantex csm+b
day 6:
same as day 3
day 8: start over at day 1

is that correct or am I all skewed up?

just tested nitrates after dosing 1/2 tsp in 120g I am below 5ppm but slightly over 0ppm..... more tests to come.
po4 2.5ppm
free iron 0ppm
chelated iron 0.25ppm
GH 5
ok I don't have a potassium test kit, crap.
what else should I be testing here?
should I dose more kno3 to bring my nitrate up to 10ppm?

this is the first tank I have ever had that I had to add nitrate to.. LOL its kind of annoying thinking of all those tanks I have had that ran at 40ppm nitrate constantly (oscars and dempsey's are dirty when you overfeed)

Assuming the amounts are correct, I would dose the micronutrients one day, and then the macronutrients the following day.

You do not need a potassium test kit.

Iron test kits usually do not work very well, unless you are using the quality (read: expensive) test kits.

You probably do not need to add more KNO3 to bring up your nitrates. Just keep dosing EI as normal, and the levels should eventually accumulate to the desired concentration.
yeah I have the expensive iron test kit, I cant remember why the heck I bought it, but at one time I thought I needed it. so I figure I can test it since it cant hurt to know. probably the same reason I bought the high end calcium kit, (accuracy)
basicly I am asking if I have the amounts correct for 125g's of water for ei dosing, starting at untestable levels for everything.

I will switch the plantex csm+b to day 2 and 5.
I really don't think you need to measure so closely. Just dose high-end and as long as you do water changes and redose you should be fine. I never measure a thing and I estimate all dosing, but I go high-end so there's no shortage. If you are into exact measurements it would be impossible for anyone to guide you since your not disclosing plants and mass.
LOL, I am just trying to get a starter amount to dose for EI in a 125, the actual numbers dont mean much other than I was bored and wanted to test and see what I had. Trying to figure out my way into it. and get some pointers on the way. I'm not shooting to maintain X nitrates, I just want to make sure I am dosing enough of each ingredient not to have a shortage that causes a cyano outbreak.
LOL, not a mind reader. Just trying to help!
thanks for the help. nice blog by the way some of those minimalist setups are really nice I like the mile marker one.

Thanks, good luck with the setup!
