Can TT's just "happen"?

I changed the substrate out in my little 10 gallon last weekend and came across two what look to me to be tangerine tigers. I have a bunch of different neos in there -- it's my cull tank, essentially. There are PFR's, RCS, yellow, white and a few blueish guys. Can any of these throw TT's?

Neos can not throw tigers, they are totally different shrimp. It would be like a dog having a litter of kittens. Neos however can throw a rainbow of colors. What you are seeing are likely something in a wild coloration, which I find often have tiger stripes as juvies and are clearish brown/orange.
Okay, I'm not up-to-speed on which common names associate with which genus names. :) These guys are a wickedly bright orange -- kind of like Tang. They do have slight striping, like their CRS parents.

CRS or RCS? CRS= Crystal Red Shrimp RCS= Red Cherry Shrimp Didn't see CRS mentioned in your first post. But yes, neos can't throw tigers, different species.
Sorry, typo. I mean RCS...
No, TTs are a wild strain. It might have hitchhiked into your tank if you're sure that it's a TT.
TTs are caridina serrata; RCS(PFR), yellows are all neocaridina heteropoda; your white/blues are likely neocaridina palmata.

Here's a simpler crossbreeding chart.
I'm not convinced he's a TT... he just *looks* like one. I'm pretty sure he's a neo... the person I got my shrimp from doesn't keep TT's...
Thank you for the charts! You know, he looks a TON like a TT. I really am wondering if he came in as a hitchhiker on a plant, maybe. There seems to actually be two of them. I need to see if I can get a pic of them tonight. They're really beautiful! Are they about the same size as the neos? I have Amanos, which I know are Caridinas, but these guys are definitely nowhere near as big as an Amano.

Yay hitchhikers!
They could possibly be a throwback to the wild color neos. Which look kinda brown and stripe-y and are super cute.
