i think you should stick with James all in one recipes

here: James' Planted Tank - All In One Solution

i have tried to explain you everything in email but i think you are looking for quick solution and not following and reading everything carefully.

i am willing to help once you read everything carefully and decide what you are trying to achieve.

that is because u were talking about the other recipe which was not all in one mix. this one you have just posted above is all in one recipe, use the urea recipe if you dont have NH4NO3.

2 ppm of urea is fine in single dose if your tank water remain acidic with low ph, less than 7, otherwise you increase the risk with higher PH over 7. there are no miracle fertilizer out there that cannot cause algae because algae use the same stuff that plant use to grow. but when using urea, algae have less chance of growing due to lack of enzyme. if you dose 2 ppm of NH4 from NH4NO3, things will go downhill quite fast.

i hope you are not planning on using both recipe on same tank, you need to try one at a time.

just remember co2 and lights are the key, if you lack either one, none of the above recipe is going to work.

I think I'm missing something. I thought that you shouldn't mix micros and macros in the same solution or one will react negatively or deactivate the other or something. I thought that's why with Ei you dose on seperate days?

like i said it works best on very high tech setup, high light and high co2 will do the trick, the goal is to make sure plant uptake those nutrients fast as possible. 3 weeks is a short period of time to fully understand if the ferts are working or not, i would start with 2x 75% water changes before start using these ferts to make sure all other excess ferts are minimum in the water to begin with.

Bump:

EI use much higher po4 in single dose and when mixing that dose in all in one solution, there might be a issue. all in one solution is only possible if you keep the solution acidic and use strong chelater such as DTPA, EDTA is fine too.
