can my fish hang?

So i'm looking to get some GBRs in my 40 gallon breeder but i'm afraid my current temp is to low (77) as i have my GF's Harlequin Rasboras in there. I want to get rid of them but it will only cause problems in paradise. I would also rather not try cooking them out of the water by bumping it up to 80. So is it possible to get GBRs and continue on my south american tank and keep the Rasbora or am i just asking for problems? thanks

You might try an Apisto species that likes the lower temps, instead?

I have considered some apisto's but didn't like the coloration of them except for the more expensive ones that my LFS doesn't carry so i would have to buy from online. with that being said i would rather not spend 150 on 4 fish that i have never seen before with the possibility that they dont make it alive.
Your Rasporas can probably handle the higher temps, so you can try them. You'll tell soon enough if your Rams aren't happy because they won't color up.
I have some harqs and my lights during the day heat my temp to 80+or - a degree and been doing well. But here again not 24 hours so they may do OK. No signs of stress and and are a beautiful ruby red
Well thanks for the input guys, i'm just going to increase my tank temp 1 degree every 4 days or so and probably top out at 80. Then probably wait another 4 days before getting some rams in there. Thanks
I had mine at 82 for a few months while I also had a GBR in with them. Had no issues at that temp over the time.
I run my rams at 78-79 with zero issue, when I ran the tank at 80-82* they were constantly breeding, at 78-79 not so much. My pair has been overly peaceful since lowering the temp a bit. Before it was chase chase chase.
I have kept Rams at 78 long term and they were healthy, happy, beautiful fish.

Thanks for the input on this, i guees its not so much if my rasboras can hang but if the GBR's can hang with the rasboras at the same temp. I think i will just top the tank out at 79.
Unless you are buying wild caught Rams, 99% of the store bought/breed rams live in 78* water, so they will do fine.
I keep rams and rasboras together at 79, both do fine
I had some rasboras in a tank with GBR for a few months at about 82 degrees. The rasboras showed no problems at all.
