Can I use root tabs in a shrimp only tank

I have several shrimp only tanks and wondered if I could use root tabs in them without causing issues? They are an ebi, flora and a crypt jar. I don't do water changes, I do topoffs with RO water. The tanks house crs,CBS,yellows, rcs, red rilli, and brown . Do root tabs change the water chemistry that wc would be necessary? I am only using the stock lighting so I am not expecting superior plant growth, but I know that the plants are looking for and would benefit from root tabs.
Both the ebi and flora are using the standard filters that came with the tanks. The crypt jar is using an undergravel filter.
