Can I import algae? My clown pleco is hungry and all he has is a hunk of driftwood to eat.

And I hate bottom feeder pellets. For some reason they make my water smell.

You could try nori sheets. That's the dry seaweed sheets used in making sushi. The SW fish people use it all the timje to feed fish that require a lot of algae in their diet.

I don't see why you couldn't... Some people switch there plecos from one tank to another ever so often so they will always have plenty of food. If you take a piece of driftwood from a clean water source like another aquarium it should be fine.
It would be easier to just buy a zucchini and give him a slice every once and a while though.

I have obnoxious neon caves that do great growing algae and have moved them from tank to tank to start algae in each new tank - works great. Walmart has them for about $2

That sounds fantastic. I eat that stuff like crackers anyway.
