Hey guys,im new to this forum and this is my first post on can crystal red shrimps breed in small tanks..i saw my RCS breed in a 2-3gallon with 50% water change per week and the pH is about 7 and the water temparature is about 24C... they seem to be happy...i was wondering if CRS can breed in such water conditions

i believe so tho I've never kept this type of shrimp. my cherry's breed in my 6.5- a bit bigger i guess but still rather small.

There's a sticky in this forum about CRS breeding. He said he had problem getting them to breed in a 10 gallon tank. I remember many others said the same thing. But mine breed like crazy in a 10g, I guess it has too do with how much plants and hiding places for them to feel safe, and how often you change the water.

I had 20 in a 5.5 gallon tank with about 30 - 40 RCS. That was 9 months ago. I now have over 300 shrimp in there, funny thing is that there is probably a 2 -1 ratio of CRS to RCS, so I definitely say that they can breed in a small tank.
