Just bending a reflector in a \_/ shape works about as well as any other shape. Then bend the angles so you see an image of the bulb on each side of the bulb. Use aluminum instead of stainless steel though. Aluminum is a far better reflector. That shape reflector doubles the amount of light you get from a bulb.

Paint remover will remove any paint from aluminum, except maybe baked on paint. Even unpolished aluminum reflects more of the light than stainless steel does.
