A teeny tiny pond snail came in with some plants I bought a long time ago. I caught hin while the plants were hanging out in a bucket for a few days before I added them to check for pests. I thought he was kind of cute so i put him in a jar with some hornwort I was going to dry out and throw away. S/he's still in there and pretty big now.
Can pond snails produce more alone or do they need a partner? I've heard some aquatic snails can do that so i just want to be sure. So far it's the only one I've ever seen. S/he's been harmless in it's own jar and I haven't seen a single pond snail in my tanks, so if it can't reproduce I'm going to let it hang out.
Also, do pond snails eat dead plant matter before eating living plant matter, or the other way around? I noticed that the hornwort (which was dying) that has been in his jar for a month or two is actually doing pretty well now and I don't think I've ever changed the water in the jar. lol.
