Came home to find all my shrimp and fish dead !!!!!

Ouch. that is terrible... Seems like you hear about this happening all too often. You might feel like packing it in now but after a while im sure the lure of the hobby will make you feel like starting a new project

What regulator do you have?

I'm guessing you had it on a timer?

Yup it is on a timer , And it is a up-aqua dual stage reg with needle valve well it is the same as easy aqua . So gutted I could cry . Seeing my shrimp and fish struggling to stay alive , not good

I don't have any experience with that brand. If they're still struggling then add as much surface agitation as you can, airstones, powerheads, filters, spraybars. I gassed my fish once really bad. I added an air pump that was WAY oversized and all was good in a few hours.

was this at the end of the tank?
Did you do any changes lately?
How long have you had that set up?

Live n learn though and move on. I suggest you get a quality needle valve such as a Fabco or Ideal nextime around.

Sorry to here about your loss. Anybody who has been the hobby for a long period of time has had a similar situation and I'm sure they can relate to this. Either that or they are extremely lucky. It's far too easy for a piece of equipment to mess up and either cook, poison, or electrocute our little submerged friends. It happens. Take some time and calm down. I'm sure once you settle down and think about it you will see that all the things that attracted you to fish-keeping in the first place still exist and this will be just a minor bump in the road. Good luck and stiff upper lip.

The only change I've done is add pressurized co2 !! And it's been set up about a month , but yes your right just live and learn , now I have no fauna I am just going to add some intense high lighting and lots of co2 and see what I can grow

Way to look on the bright side...no pun intended.

Definitely the right attitude! We all have knocks at some point. I managed to lose all my fry, like 60 of them, in one ill timed move at one point. Hurts but just take it on the chin, learn from it and move on. Good luck with the next round!!

Been there. My son cranked mine wide open one day.. all dead.

It for sure took the wind out of my sails. But i recovered and focus on higher quality parts and locking doors

one more reason one might want to consider low tech.

if that happened to me I would strongly consider selling the CO2 system and going low tech, but if I had just got it a month before I dunno.

Since you haven't had it long is it possible the part if under warranty and you can at least get your money back on it.

Sounds like the regulator was directly from China right? I believe that is where up-aqua comes from. They are kinda like OEM for the big boys.... I actually have one of their regulators, but no failure yet. I dont believe there is any hope for a refund or exchange unfortunately. On mine I paid about a third of the price as a name brand though, so I could get two more for the price if this one fails...

I gassed my fish once... I did not reset my needle valve after setting it on an empty tank and then filling said tank... I was able to save most of the fish though... same as you, massive water change and lots of surface agitation but I lost my two favorite Angels... I feel your pain, like the others said, chin up and learn from the experience.

EOTD? Did you notice the pressure remaining in the tank... ?

Happened to me with my Milwaukee regulator a few years ago. Needle valves are not stable when the psi drops below 300-400 psi. To solve that, I went with an electronic regulator from aquariumplants.com. Pricey but well worth the money. My fish are 100% safe now. My tank can go to 1psi and never dump. I will not buy any other regulator but the AP one.

This makes me real nervous to start my first pressurized CO2 tank in 2 days. Aghhh... so sorry for the loss. I would be so upset if this happened to me.

Go with a higher quality regulator your first time around and things like this will be much less likely to happen.
Trust me, it's worth splurging on a good regulator.
