Hi peeps
I would like to know how to calculate the wpg for the light for my small tank.. the tank is 25 litres the light has an 11w bulb and measures 8 inches across!!

So.. 1.6wpg

But from the looks of your pictures, it is raised rougly 4-6 inches above the tank?

the light is adjustable so can be raised or lowered as needed.. according to that graph i have a medium light tank which is more then my other tank so it will be better for growing my plants...the only other thing i need to look at it co2...

The reflector on that little light doesn't look like a good one at all. It is too small compared to the size of the bulb. As a result the light won't all make it into the tank, and you wont get the intensity you should.

personally, i had a 16w unit on a 13g and struggled to grow any plants except anubias etc, most small light units from LFS are pretty crappy if not worthless. I bought a 2 x 24w luminaire on fleabay and now can grow anything... sorry, i SHOULD be able to grow anything lol. Only tank ive managed a HC carpet in...

bare in mind that the reflector goes all around the back of the light. it just doesnt show it on the pic because i didnt have a flash on my camera..if i can get a higher wattage bulb then ill try that!
