Cacatuoides, Agassizii or Macmasteri?

Hey guys,

i'm planning the population to put in my 120l tank with Otocinclus, Cardinals/Neon Tetra and maybe Corydoras. I find Apistos Cacatuoides, Agassizii and Macmasteri beautiful but I can't decide which one to choose.

Just a little poll: which one do you personally prefer?

And another question: the bigger are the Apistos, the better is for me. Which of the 3 species reaches the greater dimensions?

I know this wasn't an option, but personally I'm a sucker for A. borellei (which doesn't need a heater either). As for the species actually suggested, though...think I'm tied between agassizii and macmasteri. Not too fond of caucatoides for some reason.
I can't even choose one in this poll because I'm down with all Apistos. I've had all you have listed but if I had to choose one, I'd think I'd go with the caca. This is because I feel that have the best personality out of the list and the males generally are always fanned out showing their colors. If you roll with agies though you need to check out the fire reds.

Since you had all, could you tell me which one among these is the biggest apisto? :)

1. Macmasteri
2. Cacatuoides
3. Agassizii
I would go with a couple of the 'fire red' Agassizii.
They seem tougher to breed so may have not any bad interactions with tank mates.
I had 6 for almost a year before sending them to a buddy. They wouldn't breed for me, and still haven't bred for my buddy...

After that Macmasteri.
My male hongslio is pretty HUGE!

I've had only Cacatuoides before and loved them, but went with Agassizii in my new tank. Loving them too. Definitely smaller than cacs. I have one fire red female, but the rest are double reds. I really don't think you can go wrong, especially if you've never had one before.

I found out after getting my fire red female that the color morph is a form of leucism actually. Do you think that may be why there was trouble breeding or do you think it was just conditions? Have you successfully bred other agassiziis?

I did not hear about the leucistic nature of the fish? I will have to investigate that ,THANKS!
I am at a loss as why they would not breed.I started with 6 that matured into 4 males and 2 females.2 of them males were very submissive ,while two males were dominant.
I tried trios, pairs, switching mates, all back together again in a 33long....I was so happy when another forum friend asked me if I wanted to trade them!:grin2:

I want to try them again , just no those 6!
I have bred my hongslio to the point of giving them away local as I can't sell all, and selling one of my trios...Just pulled eggs a week or two ago, should probably look again soon...
And have had 3 successful breedings recently with my iniridae...
I though a year was pretty patient ,but I have worked fish longer to get success, I just didn't feel it witht hese fish?
No other agazzisii for me .
