C02 tanks safe?

how safe are c02 tanks usually? i just bought a 5lb cylinder and am a little worried because i heard some stories about them blowing up or etc, or suffication, etc, can anyone reassure me?? thanks

Yeah, they're safe. You can search some previous threads on this. They don't explode. At most they will vent rapidly - think of a fire extinguisher. Might make a loud noise and make a bit of a mess, but no explosion, and no dangerous levels of CO2.
Take precautions such as restraining the tank during transit, don't leave it in the car over summer, and restrain it under your stand, and you should have nothing to worry about.
I would say they are safe for the most part, but it is not necessarily true that they will not generate a dangerous level of CO2. It won't have a noticeable effect in a house, but if you have a long drive to get it filled, and it starts leaking, it can be dangerous. I read a story on Barr Report about it. Just drive with your windows down when you're moving the bottle.

This might account for my recent bouts of CRS, two 20lb and five 5lb cylinders running in the house. Think that could be it?......DC
