I've been looking for new 55/65w CF bulbs since one of mine burnt out (oops!!! :icon_frow ). LFS sells 'em for $20-25 each. AH supply is $18. Places like DRSFOSTERSMITH go for $25-30. I can't seem to find strait-pin plugins at lowes, homedepot, or menards.

So, I stumbled upon this website:

http://www.buylighting.com/

And more specifically:

http://www.buylighting.com/55-Watt-PL-L-6500K-Daylight-p/e49312.htm

Shipping for two of those (UPS ground, to MI) was only $7.30, giving me two 55w bulbs at 6500K for only $27!!!!!

Hope others can find this useful :)

Yeah but sadly sometimes you get what you pay for. (Then again I'm a skeptic...lol)
Hopefully they work out well for you. Keep us updated.
just don't be surprised if it
goes dim in a few Months
and dies within it's first year.

at least it's 21"
that way you can still use a
straight to square pin adapter
for us Current USA owners.
Having never used them, any guess on my part would surely be speculation at best.

Have you checked out Atlanta Light Bulbs?

http://www.atlantalightbulbs.com/

I get my GE 9325Ks there all the time at what I feel is a fair price on a great PC bulb.

Believe it or not, I do appreciate the skepticism. I'll let you know how they show up (not broken hopefully), and perform.
So far I've been impressed with the company. Ordered the bulbs on 11/29, received package on 12/3 as scheduled. One of the two bulbs didn't work :( I called the company and they shipped a new bulbs, that day, without asking any questions. Very nice customer service, which was my main fear about ordering from a new-to-me company.

the bulb that does work is great, no complaints. :)
So, did these bulbs ever show up? How do you like them? I'm going to be getting some new bulbs soon, and I'm leaning toward GE 9325s, but I don't want my tank to be real pink. The reason I'm wary is because I put a GE AquaRays over my 10gal, and it was VERY pink. This may be because I have Flourite, which as you all know is quite red, and most of the plants are red, also.
I posted on another forum about locating reliable online bulb vendors.
(I'm retiring all the incandescent bulbs in my Uncle's house)
http://www.1000bulbs.com/Compact-Fluorescents/
is the only one the warranties bulbs for 12-24 Months.
this is really important with so many lousy Chinese
no name bulbs being resold by other vendors.

other sights I found are;

http://www.discountbulb.net/ ( I would avoid, they sell Longstar crap)

Haha incandescent bulbs.

I was looking through the 1000bulbs, http://www.1000bulbs.com/Full-Spectrum-55-Watt-4-Pin-2G11-Base-Compact-Fluorescent-Light-Bulbs/

The ones they offer, they are under the 6000k. Is that useful for plants? I never used less that 6500k before.
my question is, does anyone know an online site that retails non-current usa 55-65w 4pin square lamps...

or how much are adapters, i saw someone mentioned them...
Here is a sight where you can get most sizes of bulbs in most spectrums both squarepin and straight and they run specials like righ tnow two bulbs you pick 22.99 plus shipping. quality stuff I am running some of it now. Supposed to be all USA made I have seen deals of 4bulbs for like 39.99 before and all seems to be good stuff.

Though for all you bulb guys this place might be of intrest they also sell a wide variaty of other lighting products. And no i am not associated with them in any way.
