So, this is similar to Harrow's question but with a slightly different flavor. I'm about to purchase more plant for my rescape. This will be the second time I've ever bought aquatic plants.

The first time the stem plants were fairly long 6-8" each. Should I plants these as is or can (should) I cut them in half and plants larger groups of shorter stems?

What about crypts? If they're potted I need to separate them and plant each a couple cm apart, yes?

For the stems I would keep the top part as that part is the part that looks good and healthy and for the crypts, yes. Plant them a few cm apart.
