Bulb Changes

831 2
When you change out your fluorescent bulbs because of their age, do you change them all at the same time or do you do some sort of rotation. I ask because I've been doing a rotation but a friend who is an electrician told me to change them all at one time. Something about it being better for the ballast. He likened it to changing one battery in a two or three battery flashlight. Any thoughts, confirmations or rejections?

I wait for one to burn out as I have more than enough light anyway. I do keep a spare though, just incase.

I figure that because all my bulbs are of different ages, it probably ends up being pretty even when just replacing one. I wouldn't want to suddenly jump my light output up. If I were lower light, I would replace before they blew and would replace all bulbs at the same time, on a schedule.
