Hi Guys,
I'm new here. I 'm interested in building my own acrylic tank. Looking at 48in x 24in x 18in. From what I have read on many threads to use cell cast acrylic with a min thickness of 1/2in. I understand why to use 1/2 for the sides but can I use something like 1/4 for the top and bottom plate of the tank? the cell cast is so expensive.
Thanks for any help or ideas,
Pat

Personally, I don't understand the point of acrylic if you're making it with seamed edges. if you're using curved corners so the front og the tank is seemless I get it. But you can't really build an acrylic for the price you can buy a glass. Have you looked at anything online about building a plywood tank? may not be youre cup of tea, but you can make a HUGE tank relatively inexpensively. I think Garf.org has directions on how to do it if I remember correcty. has anyone here ever built one?
