I have a week old setup with ADA Amazonia and noticed that my buce leaves are melting near the rhizome. Is this normal with the soil? I previously had the buce in hard water if that makes any difference.

Very long time thread, though, the answer might interest some growers: yes, it happens, the buce can melt and lost all leaves when changing water parameters. But, as long as the rhizome is alive - which is mostly the case - don't throw it, just wait for new sprouts.

I think your issue is the one week old ADA setup. if you didn't start with a cycled filter, you probably have a ton of Ammonia in the water ->melting plants. First week you should be doing every day a 50% water change. Second week every 2 days. Now I didn't do this and 1/3rd of my plants melted away.
