I just went through a major disaster with my Oceanic 42 hex. After 4-5 years, the seams started springing major leaks. I later learned that leaky seams are the "dirty little secret" of hex tanks... the angles are just too wide to hold seals reliably long term.
In my course to find a replacement tank, I even came across two custom builders who said they refuse to make hex tanks in glass... only acrylic.
Acrylic tanks are pre molded and one piece with no seams. No seams mean no leaks. For that reason, I strongly advise acrylic if you want to go hex.
