So i have been looking around for different driftwood for my tank, and i found a site that has bonsai dried and sanded, do you think it would be safe for a tank? I can only imagine how realistic a tree would look if you used an actual small tree lol. The price was really good too. Anyone have any idea?

Well i went ahead an ordered one. I can always put it in my qt and see what happens. Cant beat the price they were only 8$. Sandblasted and dried. I read in one place that they might only last about a year. Ill put it in my currently empty qt tank and see what it does.

There will definitely be pics im swapping substrate tonight, and maybe getting a few new plants. Maybe lol. So once the sub is in, the tree should be here this week, and my diy cave is finally in so ill have to take some pics

That kind of leaves lots of questions that are important but not answered, doesn't it? Bonsia can be made with any type of wood, so that is one point. Often I have seen small conifer types used so they may have far more sap and dry far slower but we don't know what type. Then the point of drying is a pretty open ended term. If we get out of the shower we say we are dry but that sure doesn't mean wood would be dry. Before deciding if it would be good wood to use, I would have to know more about what it is and how long had it been dried. Some wood will dry in a few years while others like pine or cedar make take twice as long.

Well it should be here this week and ill be taking a close look at it. I might drill a hole up through the bottom of the main stem and see if its dried through. If it is ill be boiling it, and soaking it in a bucket. We shall see. Ill let you know how it looks. If anything i can always just turn it into a necklace hanger or something artsy. Lol.



Well darn. I should've clicked the link first. Ugh. I guess my friends daughter is getting a necklace holder for her bday. :-(
