I found a sweet piece of driftwood I plan on putting in my new(to me) 135Gal. Only problem is the driftwood is pretty huge and I had no to sterilize it until now...

55Gal drum on CMU block with a turkey fryer under it... Does this make me a *******?

It came out of a pretty stagnant pond near my parents house so I thought it wasn't a bad idea. It has been soaking for a couple weeks(daily water changes) and it has developed a "funk" and its releasing tannins like crazy so I was hoping boiling could help that too.

It came to a boil but took the better part of 4 hours to get up to temp. I will definitely use hot water from the tap next time instead of straight from the hose.

I like the steaming idea... Think I will try that with a smaller piece I have.
