Why does everyone think they need to boil it? I've never sterilized a piece of wood ever. Ever.
I wouldn't bother.
Does the turkey fryer bring the water to a boil? I'd be really surprised if it brought 55g of water to a boil..... Though a few gallons, steaming the wood with a lid would be more than effective.
