I woke up this morning to find my Boesemani Rainbow on the ground outside the tank. I have had him for about a month and he seemed happy. He is a relatively small one, in a 20 Long. It is moderately planted and has a nice current for him to swim in. Ive heard of Hatchets jumping out of tanks but not these fish. Any ideas why?

fish don't jump out of tanks to commit suicide.
fish don't have such emotions or cognitive processes.
something just spooked him, or chased him,
or he saw a rival in his reflection and went after him,
maybe the tank is too small or cluttered for him,
but it has little to do with a fishes "happiness".
just chalk it up to experience and either cover the tank,
keep the water level lower, or don't get that fish again.
a Boesemani Rainbow can get pretty nasty in a small 20g
tank as they mature, so you may be better off without him.

All rainbows will jump. I've seen a boesemani jump half the length of a 55 gallon during a waterchange.

i have had 2-3 jump from my 120gal in the last year and a half. I have heard the moonlights help so they can see where the surface is at night. I have them and have only lost 1 of my 6 SAE witch are notorious for jumping.
