I recently acquired two blue rams, and would like to know if they are male/female. I was thinking the first picture here is a male....

And the second (in the back) a female.....

I am fairly new to rams though, and was hoping someone here could either confirm or let me know if I am wrong and why.

They are both appear to be females because of the pink bellies, got any better pics? The first one may be female because of the black dorsal fins, usually means female. Not always but often. This page will help you decide for yourself. http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/cichlid/germanblueram.php

Yeah, so far they are very active and seem pretty non-aggressive to the other guys in there.

Couldn't get any better pictures but I was able to take a video, you get the best view of them from around 1:20 on....

Wasn't able to tell from the vid they were too far away and the color wasn't bright enough. One I'm pretty sure was a female though.

1st is for sure a male, second, is almost positive a female.
know my rams like my alphabet.

Edit; after seeing the video, 100% male female behavior.

Well I woke up this morning to eggs all over my larger java fern so I guess I will know for sure soon enough....
