how did you remove the old plastic part ?

i have a blue magic super pump water exchanger and the gh threads were shot so i went to home depot to see if they had something that would hold up better than the plastic.
this is what i found. watts part number a-158a dishwasher elbow. cost me roughly $3. I really only needed part of whats in this package.
