i am restarting my tank and need to do a bleach dip on the plants before they go into the new setup what is the dilution rate for this or advice on just a general algae dip.

1:20 bleach to water will suffice. Don't dip longer than a few seconds and rinse your plants with dechlorinated water until they no longer smell like bleach.
20 parts water to 1 part bleach, I usually leave them in for 1-2 mins depending on the plant. Then I put them in a bucket of tap water with extra dechlorinator in it for 10 minutes or so. I also rinse them in the sink a few times in between. Also make sure there isn't bleach on your hands when you put the plants back in the aquarium!
20:1 for bleach, though you can use potassium permanganate to do the same job and it will not harm plants.
No need for dechlorinator if you have well water, correct?

The Potassium is inexpensive on ebay and it is documented to be a lot easier on plants, bleach is a last resort and some plants will die or so I've read on countless posts and blogs.

Never tried it myself

As long as you rinse the plant well and there is no bleach smell then you don't need dechlorinator, I always use it though, I guess its my safety net. I've been bleaching new plants and algae infested plants for over 10 years and I've never once lost a plant. The people that lose plants probably aren't doing it right. They either used to much bleach, left it in the bleach solution to long or didn't rinse it properly, or they lost the plant for some other reason and blamed it on the bleaching.
thanks for all the response i actually did the dip and now they are currently in my tank and so far doing well
Tell us what kind of mix, how long you dipped, what kind of plants and any reaction you may have noticed.
