Mine started with the black spot just bfore I got daughter plants. But they never got better. Eventually whole leaves were black. I ended up harvesting the plantlets and tossing the java fern.

thanks, that makes me feel better. but, what are daughter plants and how do you harvest them?
A new plant literally starts growing off the leaf, as the plantlet gets larger in size the original leaf dies and drops the new plant. This is one of the many ways java ferns reproduce. Very interesting plant species if I do say myself.

Sorry for butting in but I have the same problem. If a java fern plant produces a plantlet does the whole plant die or just the leaf?
