Lately there been alot of talk about over filtation and good bio filtration. I would like to here some opinions about what people think are the best bio filter media. I am running bio balls at the moment but was wondering if using matrix or some of the other filter brand media would be better.

Just regular ceramic rings work for me...I don't think there's any fish species in existence that would fail or thrive depending on your bio-media choice. I'd focus more on the design of the actual filter.

If your filter is correctly sized for your tank volumn/stocking then its media should be able to support enough bacteria. The population of bacteria is dependant on waste levels in the system. It really comes down to cost and any preferance for brand. I use bactostars with no problems but have used other types with success over the years.
