Betta Diagnosis

Ive recently been experiencing some strange behavior from my male betta splendens. For the past 2 days his eating has been infrequent and he is not interested in the food offerings. I have also noticed some slight fin rot. I have treated him to a 15 minute bath in warm water with Myxazin to help stop it from worsening.

The main problem I have found on him was his stomach area. At first it seemed very bloated and swollen. It has calmed now slightly and reduced in swelling but it seems as the scales in that area are discolouring and seem to be disappearing. Im worried now. I hate losing even one fish. As I said the Myxazin bath may have helped slightly too. He also stays motionless sometimes in one spot for hours. After the bath he seemed more livened up so I will repeat again tomorrow and more so until it all stops.

Other factors that could cause odd behavior is that I just planted his 24L nano as well as added some Celestial Pearl Danios. They all seem fine though and the CPD's even have paired so early. But I dont want anything bad passing on to them either.

So please let me know if there is anything I can do or let me know of any experience you have with these symptoms. Thanks in advance!

Sounds like constipation. It's quite common with bettas. Fast him for a few days and if that doesn't cure it, then get a pea and run it under warm water to heat it a bit. Squeeze it out of the shell.
Bettas may not be too interested in peas. Daphnia has a lot of roughage, and are more acceptable to carnivorous fish.
frozen daphnia, bloodworms, or anything with an exoskeleton will do.
Make sure to keep them warm 77F-83F and a little salt or epson salt to help with the tissue fluid buildup.

I read that bloodworms can actually cause/make constipation worse?

Maybe you're thinking of the freeze dried bloodworms... Fresh or frozen is important because you get the roughage and moisture content.
All of my bettas have loved peas! Just chop the pea meat up into itty bitty peices, then chop some more to get then even smaller.
I only feed my adult bettas live food for the most part. I feed melanogaster fruit flies and maggots, grindle worms/white worms, daphnia, mosquito larvae, scuds, termites and then atison's betta pro and hikari betta bio-gold now and then. I have only ever had to deal with constipation in a bettas once or twice and to treat it I just didn't feed for 3 days then fed daphnia and it cleared out.. constipation can be cause from feeding pellets, flakes, freeze dried foods and just over feeding. I always skip a day of feeding a week to help avoid constipation. Plus it gives ur betta a chance to "clear things out" naturally. I have never tried the pea thing but I have heard from many people that it works great but at the same time lots have also said that their betta wouldn't even try it. And yes, oddly enough some people do belive that feeding to rich of live and frozen foods can cause constipation but thats not ture. If a betta gets constipation from live foods it is more likly that it's being way over fed and on it's way to be way to fat lol. But thats just my opionin and I could be wrong. I do for sure belive a diet various live foods is best and I know many people have bettas for years feeding pellets, flakes, etc and never have any issue so really most of this is just what I think :icon_wink Anyhow, good luck with ur little buddy I sure hope he makes it!!
