I have been working, reading and learning about planted tanks for some time now and one of the things that I really have not seen as much information about is water temperature. I, for a while, had my old planted tanks at 80 degrees, because I thought that it made for a more natural environment. As time had gone on and I have set up more tanks, I have kept the temp much lower. I really don't know if there is such a things, but what would be the best temperature to keep a planted tank at? I know discus like mid 80's and shrimp like it right around 70, but what is the best temperature for plants and most fish alike? What do you keep you tank at?

I think discus don't even need that high temps (maybe 80, you don't need 85; but that's just from what I've seen people do on this forum).

In any case, it of course depends on what you're stocking. I have crystal red shrimp and espei rasboros and 75-76 is good for me. I've seen many others with CRS also set their temps around the same and not as cool as 70 like you mentioned.
