Hey what kind of substrate would be nest for HC, flourite??? or some kind of mineralized soil. or sand. little help?

Depends on your budget, I guess.

A small grain substrate would be best. I've seen beautiful lawns of HC kept in anything from 3M ColorQuartz to ADA AS, Fluorite, EC, etc...

Most of my experience is with ADA AS and I have to say it grows quickly in a high-light/tech tank w/ ADA AS.

I agree with epic. I just planted some in some aquasoil powder form and it is taking off

Sand. It'll grow just fine in sand.:thumbsup:

Yep, I've grown it in mud, on a rock and in coco bedding. It all works

Growing HC

I couldn't get it to grow in Flourite. I haven't tried Aquasoil or sand but I have had very good success with Eco Complete.

It will grow on the side of a humid piece of glass. I doubt the flourite was your problem.

It really does grow quite easily. I do have to say though, it is very picky about substrate if it is going to stay down. Find something with a small grain. So far, sand has worked best for me.

i ave never used eco complete, is this a small grain?
