best liquid ferts?

So I do use dry ferts on my tank at home but now my job wants me to build a planted tank but they would rather use pre-made liquid ferts.

So my choices I am looking at is:
Pferts
Rootmedic
Brightwell
Seacheam
And maybe others.

I am sort of limited by what they can order but I like the first two if I can get them...

Any thoughts, reviews, etc..

In all practical purposes, all of them use the same compounds. The difference is how many bottles, concentration, and pumps or no pumps.

Beyond that it is about preference. How many bottles do you want to use? Do you want to be able to customize it or do you just want to pump and go?

Since you already have the dry ferts you can make 'pre-made liquid ferts'. Its very easy to do, you would just need a few dosing bottles, I can help you if you are interested. If not then I would suggest going with Rootmedic, Justin is a good guy and I am sure he will take good care of you.

well here's the thing, I cannot mix stuff and use it at my job for the moment. Once I can get them to get on board [mostly saltwater store] I will make my own mix.

I want something I can customize but also something simple for other people besides me to use.

When you say customize what are you looking for exactly? Why cant you mix it yourself right now, if you dont mind me asking?

Customize for me means that every tank is different and I may need to adjust the amt of N,P,K depending on how plants are responding. Well I am going to try to get my company to order dry ferts and do pre-mixes with their name on them, but until I can really get them fully on-board with this I am looking for a manufactured product like the ones listed. They like the look of pre-made solutions better than for say if I mix some random solution up for other people to use in my absence. I told them about dry mixes and they didn't seem to enthused about them, so that's why I wanted to just bring a nice pre-made product in for them to see (well that is the difference in the end when I show them a comparison between the two and the cost difference)..crap, reminds me I gota make my mixes tonite I am about out off everything..

Sounds reasonable. Rootmedic seems like the way to go then. If you ever decide to go with dry ferts let me know, I can take care of you.

Start with the liquids and fine tune the dosing. Get each separate:
N
P
K
Traces
and maybe Iron (if the traces have low iron- watch the plants)
Work toward dosing all the N, P, K on one day and the traces and iron on another day.

Once you have the ratios you can:
a) make a custom blend of dry N + P + K and water in one bottle, and dry traces and iron and water in another. Dose in the way you have worked out with the liquids.

OR

b) Refill the bottles with dry ferts and water, keeping N, P, K separate, and traces and iron separate. Match the original concentrations, then the dosing will be the same. The other people helping may not even know you are refilling the bottles.

I've been using Rootmedic for a while now. With the tabs and liquid ferts my growth has been pretty amazing. Even with the 3 tanks I'm using it on it's lasting a pretty long time.

Anyone know anything about the Brightwell stuff? I know they use these for saltwater stuff.

The Brightwell packages are great looking for starters. Better than my current packages. However they're not much different than seachem when it comes down to it. I prefer seachem over brightwell, if I had to go with one of them.

If you're looking to sell/resell something, let me know. Be careful in marketing your own. Just make sure to follow local/state/federal law on packaging. All it took for me was one uptight person to turn my life upside down. It isn't terribly hard once you get through the paperwork and what not, but just requires you to cover some bases. Here we have to have a bond, but not a big one. Some states don't require that at all.

If you're just looking to make liquids to use on store tanks, it isn't hard. Getting to Pfertz/rootmedic concentrations is a little more work. But isn't necessary if you aren't selling for a profit. You can afford to mix bigger batches/more frequently. Wet's calc has all the info in the world about how to mix ferts. There are prob a hundred threads here, too.

You could always make your own. I use EI daily calculations for two bottles. One for macros and one for micros. My daily dosage is 15 ml (1/2 OZ) from each bottle.
