What would be the best foods for my fire reds? Is there any type of feeding regime I should follow?

Best food is what they enjoy eating and what is healthy for them.

Most people use a mix of fresh veggies and some kind of food made for shrimp. Mosura, hikari, shirakura, etc are all foods made for shrimp. Fresh blanched spinach is a favorite food of shrimp as well.

There seems to be so many kinds of shrimp-specific foods out there. Some for growth, breeding, color, etc. What's good for a balanced diet and where's the best place to buy some?

A great balanced diet is ebita breed hinomaru bento, i sell it here on the forums. Another good one is shirakura, they're the same price, and really for cherry shrimp I'd go for the shirakura, it'll last you a lonnnnngggg time. You'd have to go to shirakura-shop (google it and find the north american site) to get the shirakura food. It's great for all shrimp as a staple diet.

Do different shrimp require different diets? I might try my hand at raising other species of shrimp in the future and would appreciate it if the food for my fire reds could also be used.

The shirakura food is good for CRS, tigers and pretty much everything. It's a good quality japanese food
