I am a beginner looking for walstad set up suggestions for a 20 gallon long (30.3 x 12.5 x 12.8 inches) never used tank.
My long term goal is to keep a small number of fish, shrimp or snails alive using the walstad method. I do not have much of a preference for what type(s) of animals are in the tank, although I would like to keep some cories if it is possible. If not, no worries. I am not terribly concerned with appearance of the tank or how long it takes me to cycle it. I simply am interested in keeping a sustainable low tech/low maintenance tank that requires minimal water changes, minimal ferts, no co2 , etc.
Would love suggestions on:
-Substrate
-Lighting type (T5HO/NO, CFL, LED, etc) and light brand
-Planting for initial set up
-Filter (if needed)
-Organisms (Fish, shrimp, snails - how many, what kinds)
Thanks!
