Hi everyone,

I'm new to the board and to this hobby. Looking for some recommendations on beginner plants that are hardy and forgiving for a newbie like me.

My equipment list is as follows:

-36 gallon
-96w total T5HO lights (2.6 watts per gallon)
-DIY C02
-Emperor Hang-on-Back filter (thinking about changing to a canister filter)
-Aqua-soil substrate

Livestock:

7 x Galaxy Microrasbora
7 x Cherry Barb

Appreciate any advice y'all can offer.

First thing you'll want to do is ignore "watts per gallon." Check the Lighting subforum for information about PAR, which is a better way to measure your lighting.

What are the dimensions of your tank? That will help us determine your actual lighting level.

Regardless, some really great beginning plants: Anubias, Java Ferns, Java Moss
