Banjo catfish and sand

Just yesterday I moved the fish from my daughter's small tanks to a 55g I just set up. The old tanks had stone as the substrate, and the new tank has sand. This morning I came down and didn't see my Banjo Catfish anywhere. After a little time passed, I found him buried under the sand. I was just wondering if this was normal behavior for them? If so, will he also feed on things in the sand while buried?

Appreciate the assistance.

Yes, if there is sand, most banjo cats will bury themselves in it. It is natural/normal behavior.
I believe banjos are nocturnal feeders, so you often won't see it unless you're looking after lights out...

Yup.

I'd make sure to feed some bloodworms each night right before you go to bed to make sure they're actually getting something to eat in your tank, too- otherwise your other fish will likely have eaten all the food before the banjo cats come out to forage at night.
