Bad to Rinse ADA Aqua Soil?

3129 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Overfloater
Is it okay to rinse ADA Aqua Soil so I don't have to deal with dust, or is that a bad idea? I'd likely put it in a bucket and blast it with a hose a couple times, then add it to the tank for a dry start with dwarf baby tears.

I don't want to deal with daily water changes for a week to get rid of the bleh once I fill up the tank.

Don't rinse it. It'll probably wash some of the nutrients out of it. Besides, you're doing a DSM anyway. Nothing to worry about.

Oh, does DSM like prevent dust or something somehow? :icon_eek:
I wouldn't bother, I didn't have much dust and it's just extra work. As for it having an effect on nutrients, probably not. It is very common for people do heavy water changes when cycling aquasoil with no issues.
It will be a little cloudy at first when you fill up the tank but usually clears up by the next day. If it still a little murky do a water change and then the water will be crystal clear.
After my 1 month dsm I filled up and it was pretty good, light clouding but it cleared up in half an hour once I powered my eheim up
