Hi!
I'm Brenda from Maryland. I joined in 2008, when I had much more time on my hands and only one kid who was barely walking at the time. Apparently I never posted, although I was almost positive I had... Ah well. Life happened, we moved, I took the tank down and gave all the fishies and plants to a neighbor before we moved to put in his 100 gallon tank (which used to be my husband's reef tank; neighbor used it for freshwater).
Around Christmas time this year, I started to get the itch to start up my tank again. We dug my Nano Cube 28 CFI out of storage, along with my cheesy decorations (palm tree, beach chair, and beach ball anyone?) and got her going again.
Alas, the itch to get going with a planted tank struck even harder, so last night I rinsed and rinsed and rinsed some Black Diamond blasting sand my husband had in the garage, pulled out all the blue gravel, and swapped it with the sand. Today we are waiting on a new LED light to arrive from Amazon, and tomorrow I should be receiving a few plants to get me started until we can get to That Fish Place again. My tank was in bad shape from horrible water conditions that I can only trace back to Glo Fish food. Needless to say that's been tossed.
I have a CO2 system in storage, but I'm not hooking it up until I see how my tank reacts first. I have forgotten a lot, so I will be reading and reading and trying to re-learn everything I need to know from this forum.
I'm usually not this long-winded. Have no fear. If you made it this far, thanks!
