I bought some baby tears on Ebay and broke it up into small sections and planted it across my substrate. In about a week, the baby tears has grown elongated leaves and looks identical to pearl weed. Is this even possible?

When I got it, it looked just like baby tears with its tiny round leaves. But when it started to grow, all the new leaves looked identical to pearl weed.

Baby tears aka pearlweed aka Hemianthus micranthemoides (or Micranthemum micranthemoides - I don’t remember which is the current correct name, not enough coffee yet.)

Dwarf baby tears aka Hemianthus callitrichoides

It’s possible you got the regular baby tears species not the smaller species.

@johnson18 might be right, but we won't know without a pic. If they are really elongated it's probably not regular baby tears either.
