So i am finishing up my weekly water change on the 55 gallon planted community tank which consists of 6 Congo Tetras, 9 long fin zebra danios, a couple of giant danios, a few ottos, a pair of albino bristlenose plecos, and a few RCS. The tank is fairly heavily planted and all of the fish are fairly mature. I was cleaning the glass after I had refilled the tank and saw a very small baby albino bristlenose pleco sucking on the front glass. The Mom and Dad had been acting kinda funny and hiding a bunch for the past week or so but I did not think much of it and had no idea they would breed. I went to get a net to move the baby as I am afraid he will be eaten by the Congos but now I cant find him anywhere. I have been looking and looking but cant find it. Hopefully he won't get eaten and hopefully he has a bunch of brothers and sisters hiding out somewhere too.
should I set up another tank and try to get them to breed more do you think??? I have not seen many for sale and they are great for planted tanks.

Just thought I would share and will post a pic if i can find them but I have looked for hours and don't see any.

The albino bushy nose plecos usaully have a pretty large amount of offspring. A friend of mine breeds them locally(he did it by accident) but he has what looks like 50+ fry from them. He does separate them cause they are living in a ciclid tank. So you should see some babies.
If you want to net them up maybe try putting some cucumber in there and when they start eating it, net them up!

50? LOL mine are throwing like 200 or more! It's just crazy how many eggs they spawn.

zucchini works great.

That is a really nice photo!

I know this is slightly off topic but I didn't want to start an entirely new thread. I have a 10 gallon tank and am looking for an algae eater. I want something durable and not a snail (I think snails are rather boring). I'm afraid otos are a bit skiddish/undurable for what I'll need them for.

Would a 10 gallon be too small for a single albino bristlenose pleco? I'll be adding a piece of driftwood and hopefully some floating plants tomorrow (coming in the mail). I don't know if I'll even be able to get one because I live in the middle of nowhere and it's literally 0 degrees F outside so I don't want to ship (nor can I afford normal super fast shipping).

My stock consists of a betta some neons, and a few zebra danios that have survived the school. They may be moved to another tank soon. Stocking is not an issue I'm just most concerned about size.

Albino BN Plecos get to around 4 inches usually right? Is that too big for a 10?
are they long fins by chance?
Not long fins. I may have to get some of those though!!!

Gonna try this today or zuchinni or squash. I have all three in the freezer for the shrimp.

200? That is crazy. I just hope the fish haven't eaten them yet.

Sweet pic too. How old are they in this pic? Just a few days?

I think you could have one in a 10 galllon but not much else. mine usually hang on the driftwood and eat what I feed the fish so are not great cleaners.

Mine are LFABN.;)
Not sure of the age. The spawn was in a heavily planted 110g and the batch on that zuchinni were found on 1/12/11 while cleaning the tank. I pulled a fake log and rinsed them out of it using tank water. At that time they were more egg than fish and only about 1/8" in size and not swimming yet.

All veggies are eaten but zuchinni is the favorite. I bait with that.

not much else being no betta and neons? I don't need a heavy cleaner just something that'll look very cool and occasionally clean the spot algae. I was planning on feeding with blanched veggies when the algae is low.
