Just out of curiosity, would it be possible to alter the flow of a filter to increase oxygenation in the water? I was thinking of adding a bolt or something to disrupt the flow of water as it re enters the tank.

Because an airstone is just one more annoying set of chords to deal with - and just one more thing that can fail.I'm guessing u mean to alter a hob filter. I guess changing the force and angle of the water interning the tank would alter oxygen exchange. But why not just an air stone then.
