Assassin snails, not assassinating anything

My initially low number of ramshorn snails exploded when I upgraded to a larger tank. To try and control the numbers I invested in a pair of assassin snails. For the first couple of days they worked a treat a wiped out about a dozen each, but since then seem to have given up. They both sit in a corner behind a piece of driftwood, making the occasional trip out but only to give rides to baby ramshorns. It's so bad that on more than one ocasion I have watched one of them crawl through a cluster of snails, and simply climb over them to get past.
Are they simply full, or have they turned vegan?

My assassians suck too, I have become the assassin with my finger!

That kinda reminded me of chicken crossing the road joke. Sounds like they are full for now. give them some time.
Have they laid any eggs. Mine seemed to be more interested in mating than eating when their were a ton of snails around.

This is soooo true!

Mine slew 10 pond snails in 7 days.

And spent their down time um ... embracing.

Now I'm just putting in pond snails every other day and freeze dried bloodmworms on the other days.
No sign of eggs, and although they are in the same corner together there's been no Barry White moments so far, or atleast from what I've seen. If anything they always keep a few inches distance between themselves.
Good to know its not a permanent issue though, cheers everyone
I bought one assassin 2 years ago from the LFS, it decimated the entire population in a 30g tank. I now keep the regular snails in with my shrimp tank and when they get big enough i transfer about 20 at a time into the 30g and watch the assassins eat them in less than 12 hours. they are awesome.

If you need more assassin let me know.
how much are you paying them?....maybe its not enough. I heard assassins are expensive to hire.
2.00 a snail. I am about to off load mine as they suck in my tanks. I have them in 3 and they lay more eggs than they kill snails
I would be more than welcome to take them off your hand.
Give them time. I thought the same thing when I first put some assassin snails in my tank. It wasn't until they were in for a few weeks that I realized they were the only snails in my tank.
Time mine have been in these tanks for 4-6 months depending on the tank

I rescued them from a betta that had eaten a dozen of thier brothers in arms, provided a well heated, well decorated mansion, fully carpeted in suitable substrate compared to their bare bottom dwellings, all the ramshorns and trumpet snails they can eat. The least they can do is a little house keeping.

Bettas eat assassin snails?!?

They're soooooo big!

The tank in the store had a single betta, a dozen or so empty shells, and the two live ones I got. Unless they ate each other it's the only thing I can think of.
Once they fill up they might lay off for a while, they were likely starving. They will soon start eating about 1 a day.
I've loaded 10-20 per 10 Gal and they did not stop the snail issues.
Hmmm, will give them another week and if they don't get to work, I will start squishing them myself.
I guess it depends on the snails. I put two in my 36 gallon bowfront and within two weeks, all the other snails were gone. I now have over 40 assasin snails in my tank from the original two. my wife makes fun of me for trading one snail for another but she is the one that likes to count the babies.
kudos for finding something to keep the wifey busy. i haven't found that yet and we have 3 kids. lol
