Added several snails on Thursday after 45 min of drip acclimatization. All are fine in the other tanks but in my main one, one tylomelana, one zebra, and a bumblebee all remained closed up. Another zebra and the shrimp and fish I added that day are all active.

It's been almost 48 hours and those three still haven't moved. Ammonia level appears to be zero.

When should I give up on them?

What are your other parameters?

Pick the snails up out of the water. Do they smell horrible?

Poke the entrance with a credit card or finger nail. Do they pull back?

Some nerites can take 10 days to get comfortable to move around in their new home. If they don't stink (and you'll know the stench when it hits) then just leave them be.

Hope you don't have residual Planaria treatment in the tank because that will cause them to die a slow death.

Do the poke and smell test. Inverts decay pretty fast so you will smell them once they are out of the water.

The zebra is locked up tight, the bumblebee was lolling out a bit but closed up, and the tylomelana (sp?) stayed buttoned up, but his door isn't accessible. At first I noticed no odors but think I got a whiff later from the tylo. I put him in a bowl to be safe.

do you really have to drip acclimate snails? i read somewhere once that you can take them out of the water and just set them on a dish and see if they come out of their shells it might take a while though

ive had mystery snails take a couple days to open up. it did seem to help if i rolled them over onto the foot and let them sit there like that. im wondering if they dont get messed up in shipping some times and cant figure out what way to come out
