Same here. I've had them twice in different tanks, both open tops and never had one jump. They are fun fish to watch. Mine looked like they were playing games with each other.
What size tank are you putting them in? I had them in a ADA Mini M (5 gallon) and a couple jumped on me, although this could be due to me filling up the water level too high, or overcrowding the tank.
The tank is a 20 Long, was thinking of 9 or 11 tetras. 7 ottos and red cherry shrimp. Hoping that if I start with about 30 RCS, and lots of hiding places that I won’t lose to many shrimp. But I do know I will lose some shrimp.
IME, ive only had one black neon jump from a tank....it was in a 40 breeder, him and a regular neon decided to jump out while i was on vacation...no idea why though...
