I have never tried cups in a aquarium, but the alternative styrofoam lasts forever! I would use it for my nocturnal catfish, he needed a place away from my guppies. Please advise!!! :fish:

As long as there is no residue it should be fine. Glass is inert. You can also use small terracotta flower pots. That way the "cave" isn't clear. A see through cave would kinda defeat the purpose. Some people also use coconut huts but I'd think those would break down over time. PVC pipe can also be use.
Yup, coconut huts do rot over time, but some fish love to pick at the little hairs and stuff on the outside of it while it's still fresh:)
