I have a few dollar store terra cotta pots in my aquarium. I placed them in there a few days ago. Didn't think about it at the time, but now I'm beginning to wonder if it's safe. When I look at pictures of other terra cotta pots, they look more red than mine.

Should I remove them to be safe and buy a better quality one from a garden center or the garden section in the supermarket?

I'm pretty sure you're safe. I've used a ton of clay/ terracotta pots from all sorts of places and have never had a problem. I have brown and red clay pots in my 40b and I think the smaller ones are dollar tree ones.

I just rinse them well before use. I use them a lot for breeding.

Thanks Amy. Gave them a really good rinse. Going to buy more. It's the first time I tried pots in my tank and I really like the look.
